YEARS 3 & 4, YEARS 5-8 HOCKEY FEVER 6-A-SIDE GAMES
Who with: Led by a Hockey Fever Coach/Umpire. The coach/umpire will input into the game to develop team and individual play.
Who is this suitable for: Players must be in Years 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 at school. Any level of player can attend this session but if you aren’t sure whether this is the right option for your child then please get in touch. Younger children will get the opportunity to play with children in older year groups, depending on ability, we look closely at this on a weekly basis. Younger children work on developing resilience and learn to apply different playing strategies, all the time practising passing and ball control. Older children will get the chance to develop leadership skills, work to get the best out of younger players, lead by example and practise choosing the right skills at the right time.
What will the sessions be like: We will run a warm-up for the whole group and then split players into teams. the rest of the session will be game play, based on Hockey Fever’s 6-a-side rules. The Umpires on pitch will ensure that players understand the Hockey Fever rules and support play with the values of sporting behaviour, team spirit, fun and enjoyment encouraged at all times.
Providing a safe environment for children to take part in hockey in is a priority for everyone at Junior Hockey Fever. We take the utmost care of your children and follow England Hockey’s safeguarding policy, click here to view. We also ask that you complete a consent form prior to your child’s first session.
GUM SHIELDS AND SHIN PADS
Hockey is not a contact sport but we ask all Junior Hockey Fever players to wear gum shields and shin pads. Balls can and do travel at speed so please make ensure your child has a gum shield and shin pads with them as they won’t be allowed to join the session without them.
