Hockey Fever Technical Series

Hockey Fever Technical Series

We’re running a series of four Technical Hockey Coaching Courses in conjunction with RO Coaching again this summer.

  • Penalty Corner Attack
  • Eliminate & Finish
  • The Dark Arts of Defending
  • Passing to go Forward

Designed to help players aged 11 and older to focus on improving their individual skills. This is an opportunity to learn specific skills that are valuable assets in any hockey team environment. All these skills require technical input, practice and feedback, time to absorb and more practice, so time between and multiple sessions is perfect to deliver these next steps in player development.

Meet the coaches

Players will get expert coaching to improve and our intention is that everyone leaves the Hockey Fever RO Coaching session with the belief that they can go further than they previously thought possible, having learnt a new skill and had fun.

2. Eliminate & Finish

Players will enjoy, learn and hone new skills and new ways of thinking about the game, gaining a better understanding of how to:
– eliminate the last player in a way that sets up the best possible finish
– use a variety of scenarios; from outside the ‘D’, to ‘Ugly Zone’ finishing.
Leaving any defender quaking in their astros!

NB Even if you class yourself as a defender remember a) it’s always good to know what an opponent may have in their toolbox and b) there is no position on a hockey pitch where you don’t need to eliminate an opposition player & finish with a killer pass.

3. The Dark Arts of Defending

Players will enjoy, learn and hone new skills, be challenged to think about the game differently and gain a better understanding of how to apply the skills in their ‘tool box’ at different times.

Participants will start to learn the how, when and why of each technique. ‘Threading the needle’ passing requires 80% vision and 20% execution.

Players will sharpen their passing skills, helping them to become a complete team player and raring to go for pre-season.
